What I Wanted to Say (WIWS)

Privacy policy

How this app handles data.

Updated October 15, 2026. This page describes data handling for WIWS, currently under App Store review.

Diary storage

Diaries, English drafts, corrections, and phrases are stored on your device by default. If enabled, they are also stored and synced in your own iCloud Drive. iCloud processing follows Apple’s services and your settings.

AI processing

Questions, text preparation, hints, corrections, and phrase extraction may send the necessary diary text, Japanese text, and English writing through a Cloudflare relay to cloud AI from Anthropic or OpenAI. Supported devices can also use Apple’s on-device AI. The app shows processing destinations, which vary by feature, device, and plan.

When on-device AI is available, the raw-diary cloud setting controls questions and text preparation that use the original diary. When on-device AI is unavailable, these AI features use the cloud. Text used for hints and corrections may be sent separately from that setting. If you use your diary unchanged as writing material, it may include the original diary text.

Operational data and feedback

For ordinary AI requests, the developer’s relay does not store or log diary or English text. Operational aggregates include task, model, plan, outcome, processing time, and estimated cost, without text, IP addresses, or device identifiers in those aggregates. External AI providers process requests under their own data terms.

A separate consent-based feedback mechanism may store the selected rating, reasons, optional comment, correction input and output, and model information for quality improvement. Records become eligible for automatic deletion after 90 days without an update. Withdrawing consent allows deletion of the associated feedback data to be requested.

Purchases and abuse prevention

Apple processes purchases. The relay handles purchase verification, installation identifiers, and usage counts to verify subscriptions, manage trials and quotas, and prevent abuse. The developer does not receive credit card details.

Reminders, app lock, and contact

Reminders are scheduled locally. The operating system handles Face ID and Touch ID; the developer does not receive biometric data. App lock does not protect diary files in iCloud. Support email addresses and message content are used to respond and are also processed by the email service.

Manage or delete diaries within the app, and review Apple’s settings for iCloud copies and backups. Contact [email protected] with data questions. This page will be updated when practices change.
